Typical industrial uses
Plastic processing
Used around injection moulding and plastic-processing barrels to maintain controlled heat across process zones where a compact cylindrical heater is required.
Extrusion barrels
Applied to extrusion barrel zones for distributed surface heating. Correct diameter, clamping and wattage help reduce air gaps and improve heat transfer to the barrel.
Packaging equipment
Suitable for selected packaging and sealing assemblies where a custom band heater must fit around a cylindrical component or heated collar.
Nozzle heating
Smaller mica band constructions can be used around nozzles and adapters where space is limited and the heater must match the outside diameter closely.
How to specify a mica band heater
For a replacement heater, measure the inside diameter and heater width carefully and note the voltage, wattage and connection position. A tight, even fit is important because an air gap between the band heater and the barrel increases heater temperature and can reduce service life.
Maurya Heater can manufacture single and double mica band constructions with different lead and terminal arrangements. When the old heater is damaged or its marking is unreadable, send a clear photograph together with machine application and dimensions so the requirement can be reviewed before quotation.
For new applications, share the operating temperature, material being processed, number of heating zones and available temperature-control system. This allows the heater wattage and construction to be selected around the actual process rather than only the physical size.
